Others times heart still torn apart What do I do with the bleeding Next generation preceding All eyes on me, what they do not see I am a warrior & will tell my story Blindness & silence Pain & fear Searing silence or abrupt explosion of anger in the moment, prayer interrupts. By Skye Shae Bonati Fall 2024 I’m stuck. Frustratingly stuck. I don’t know where to turn and the effort Taken in explaining why the turning is yet Unfinished is racking my frame. Like the Reform wrecked slavery… That was Not an immediate change, but a molasses pulled from the Mandate that came from Years of frustrated, women, and men and Even the smallest, Yes, the smallest metamorphosis took Eons, it Seemed. Truly, it seems to take eons for my Head to follow the thought… a n

By Skye Shae Bonati May 26, 2026 Jesse tipped his hat to the girl on the end of the street. She looked at him for just a fraction of a second longer than the typical glance—one of those looks where neither of you is thinking about the other, neither judging nor appraising—and shifted her weight to the other foot as she rubbed her arm. It was fairly cool for a July evening. She was waiting for her order of cotton candy and a chili dog from the carnival workers, sidestepping as

Love aches

No sweeter love have I ever found, And I have searched the whole world round. Verse 2 Amazing love! Your back holds scars that were never meant for you, But you were beaten for my sin. Chorus Amazing! I don’t know why you left your crown, Entered human skin, claimed the torture for o

By Skye Shae Bonati March 10, 2009 The road ahead brings solitude away from wayside paths, As now my horse and load are turning round to stroll the grass. It calls me where there are no bounds, where I am free to roam, But something calls me stronger; it's the calling of my home. The fast-approaching dawn is calling down into my heart, The coolness on the air is painting fathoms with an art. The softness of the morning mist is thrilling to the bone, But nothing calls me stron

By Skye Shae Bonati April 12, 2013 Humility, that wide-eyed child once stood next to the fountain on Cantos Plaza A yellow tipped man hung his bow there -- drew it across the symphony he played in his heart -- if only he’d known All around him sun’s rays shone through dusty streets, finding every shadow and giving chase The plaza dripped with honey and bread fell from the sky, but the bow drew back and forth. The conductor tapped his s

How little time I spend making mistakes, But how long I pay for them! God, give me faith to believe I’m forgiven It would feel better to know that I’d done it on purpose, And know that right now I rightly deserve this Jesus, I cut Your back with my words, And I struck You with feelings of hurt and of anger Crosses were usually for strang

By Skye Shae Bonati Circa 2011, for my sister's children Verse 1 Nothing breaks your heart quite like your child in pain empty eyes, like a looking glass reflecting your own childhood Gone are the days you said, "She'll never be like me" Pre Chorus But I've seen fire in your eyes So let the hope of her freedom rise! Chorus Because you, my dear, are driving out fear you're cutting off curses you're turning back clocks and all that we hear, it tells of our Savior and shows tha

By Skye Shae Bonati Circa June, 2024 This poem first appears in The Chain Breaking Experience: Poetry Devotional Book , published in 2024 on Amazon. If you want to build a house in three days, you need the right materials. You will need: wood, some nails, a hammer or two. You will need a good strong team of guys to help you (twelve should do), and women to find the Gardener. You’d be remiss if you get anything less than the best architect-- the blueprints drawn up impe

By Skye Shae Bonati February 24, 2019 Verse 1 When I step up on this stage, don't see anything but trees Genesis and heaven and the one in the middle that saved me This silly raised up platform's only built from some old wood And I'm nothing without Jesus' yeah, I'm nothing if it weren't for God PreChorus Because an actor can win their Oscar and drive around in gold But we couldn’t play our part if Jesus’ story wasn’t told Tho it might not have been the finest oak

by Skye Shae Bonati April 12, 2025 You will take care of me: As a song in your hand, Cup your fingers to stave What my enemy’s planned; I’ll sing your harmony. And if you let me go, I’ll fling notes ‘pon the sky! With father’s keen vision Train a bow as I fly; Bury arrow in foe. However, if pleasure You gain more on ground, I’ll let molt these pinions And carol earthbound— Still there I’m your treasure. And when our communion Is had better by loss, Lead me up the dark road

By Skye Shae Bonati October 20, 2016 I'm just warning you Imma be a funny person when I die so many things that I've tried * Things poking out of corners and blindsides like a house that was built by children So many things to fit in We can't make up our minds * * * I'm just warning you Prob'ly won't live the life of the common loon on the lake, but I'm all in * Snorkeling past the apparent diving for treasure that's buried shake it all out for its story to get all that I ca

By Skye Shae Bonati Circa 2011 A problem of love had escaped the night; Misfortune and pain were holding us tight. Oh, castles and star-gazer nights we had, But pleasure of time was driving us mad. The concept of love eluded us then; We built of sand for the castles of men. And the waves came crashing, pounding , dashing-- To be sure, we incurred quite a lashing. Almost letting go we held to our past, Hoping to find something more that would last. And finding naught but dust

By Skye Shae Bonati March 21, 2020 Verse You bled and died for this simple man Full of sinful thoughts and I don't understand why you Climbed that hill to lay down your rights, Such a sacrifice To slay an innocent lamb Chorus Plan of the ages You saw us from Genesis Foretold how You’d wash us in the cleansing flow How Passover turned to joy The blood of a Lamb deployed our freedom through a righteousness not our own Bridge Jesus, You make us holy Jesus, You are the holy one

By Skye Shae Bonati 2011 Moving on the still air, downward came the only wish that I had dared breathe to the expectant night, leaving my lips with hope insecure and unsure of it finding its goal. I watched it with a guarded heart, thinking that perhaps I dreamt. But while I dared not move an inch toward it to grasp and take hold of my prize, a breeze flew by, and I had to reach out quick -- in order that the evening’s elves not snatch my zephyr of hope away before my eyes fu
