Moving/on the still air

Moving

on the still air, downward came the

only wish that I had dared breathe to the expectant

night,

leaving my lips with hope

insecure and unsure of it finding its

goal. I watched it with a guarded

heart,

thinking that perhaps I dreamt. But

while I dared not move an

inch toward it

to grasp and take

hold of my prize,

a

breeze flew by, and I had to

reach out quick -- in order that the

evening’s

elves not snatch my

zephyr of hope away before my

eyes fully believed in its existence.
